Of the 120 athletes qualifying for the 2014 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, 25 live within a 30-mile radius of Stephenville. The local delegation combined to win world championships in team roping and a whopping $1.3 million at the finals, while others combined to win more than $700,000 at the World Series of Roping in Las Vegas and the World Championship Barrel Racing Futurity in Oklahoma. In all, local rodeo athletes won more than $2 million the last two weeks. An NFR Welcome Home Celebration was held Thursday evening at Cowboy Church of Erath County. It was sponsored by the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Association. Many people wore Cowboy Hardware clothing to the Rodeo.
