A high-speed chase was over almost as fast as it began early Sunday morning between Stephenville and Dublin.

According to Erath County officials, just after midnight a vehicle was reported as driving recklessly along US Highway 377, southbound, within the Stephenville city limits. When units attempted to stop the suspect vehicle at 12:04 a.m., he fled toward Dublin. At one point in the brief chase, speeds neared 95 miles per hour and an estimated eight units were in pursuit of the suspect vehicle.

However, the suspect, who was later identified as Glenn Theodore Peterson, 24, didn’t make it very far. The red pickup he was driving collided with a milk truck on Peach Tree Road, near Bramlett Implement along US 377 South at 12:06 a.m. Both Peterson and the unidentified driver of the milk truck escaped major injuries, and Peterson was arrested by Texas DPS troopers.

He was escorted to the Erath County Jail on charges including evading arrest with a vehicle (F3), possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility (F3), driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and failed to maintain financial responsibility (insurance). As of 7 a.m. Monday, Peterson was still being held in the Erath County Jail on $6,000 bond and $700 in fines.
