STEPHENVILLE (January 15, 2015) — Stephenville welcomes 22 high school soccer teams to town Friday and Saturday for the annual Knights of Columbus Challenge of Champions presented by Southwest Dairy Farmers.
Stephenville has three of the teams in the field – it’s varsity girls and boys as well as its junior varsity boys – comprised of 12 girls teams and 10 boys clubs.
The girls tournament consists of three pools of four teams, while the boys has two pools of five teams. Pool play begins at 10 a.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday, with semifinal and the championship and consolation rounds to follow at 2 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, all at Stephenville Soccer Complex.
Stpehenville’s boys enter the event with a 1-0 mark after scoring two late goals to win 3-1 at Alvarado in Tuesday’s regular season opener. The SHS girls opened their season with tournament play in Marble Falls last Friday and Saturday, going 2-1.
