STEPHENVILLE (February 10, 2015) — On the eve of one of the biggest Lone Star Conference games of the season at Wisdom Gym, Tarleton State has moved up one spot to No. 11 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches top 25 poll.

The opponent in Wednesday night’s showdown at Wisdom Gym – Angelo State – moved up three spots to No. 4. Tipoff Wednesday night is 7:30 p.m. following a 5:30 p.m. women’s contest. The Flash Today has spoken with Tarleton men’s head coach Lonn Reisman and will have a full preview Wednesday morning.

The Rams and Texans are the only teams from the LSC in the top 25, primarily because of Tarleton’s back-to-back road wins over then-No. 25 Texas A&M-Commerce and then No. 23 Midwestern State. The Texans followed those victories with a relatively easy home win over Cameron last Saturday, their seventh straight victory.

ASU has won a school-record 16 consecutive games and took its big step forward in the top 10 because of a bevy of upsets last week. The Rams are the lone unbeaten team in LSC play, and hold a two-game advantage over Tarleton and MSU, who are tied for second.

The South Central Region, which Reisman simply referred to today as “lodaded,” also includes No. 10 Metropolitan State-Denver, No. 15 Colorado-Colorado Springs and No. 17 Colorado School of Mines, all from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. There are no ranked teams in the Heartland Conference.
