(February 24, 2015) — Both Stephenville FAITH homeschool basketball teams are headed back to the Texas Christian Athletic League state tournament.

FAITH’s boys are in the Class A tournament for the third straight year after defeating Odessa Sherwood Christian Academy 49-35 in a regional final Saturday. The Lady Knights edged Portales Faith Triumphant 26-24.

Leading the Knights was first-team all-region selection Shadd Cole with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Second-team all-region pick Joey Braun had eight points and 10 boards. The Knights trailed 11-2 early on before outscoring Sherwood Christian 27-11 for a 29-22 lead at intermission. It was the third time this season the Knights have defeated the Odessa school.

FAITH is the No. 1 overall seed in the Class A boys state tourney in Bryan/College Station. The Knights face Canton Lighthouse at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Other all-region selections for the boys team includes Branson Hardcastle (first team) and Ashton Breeding (second team).

The Lady Knights were led by a pair of first-team all-region honorees in Jessica Wand and Olivia Harris in reaching their second straight state tourney. Jessica Wand had 13 points and Harris had 11 rebounds and three points. Freshman Brianna Leos, another all-region pick, had four points, five boards and four steals. The other Lady Knights on the all-region team is Mikayla Wand.

The Lady Knights are the No. 2 seed at state and open tournament play against Marshall Christian at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
