ALLEN (March 5, 2015) — A nationwide dunk contest based on fan voting has come down a pair of Division II rivals from Texas.
Tarleton State senior forward Davene Carter has reached the finals in the Darkhorse Dunker contest, the winner of which goes to the NCAA Division I Final Four in Indianapolis to compete against the best Division I dunkers in the nation.
Carter is up against a familiar foe, one he’s faced five times on the hardwood the last two years. The other finalist is Antjuan Ball of West Texas A&M, a potential Lone Star Conference Championship semifinal for Tarleton. WTAMU faces Texas A&M-Commerce in the final first-round matchup tonight, with the winner taking on the top-seed Texans at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Fans can view videos of both finalists and vote at darkhorsedunker.com. Three votes per fan are allowed each day – one each from Twitter, Facebook and an email account.
