(March 8, 2015) — The Flash Today is contacting Stephenville city council candidates concerning their platform and ideas as they campaign for office. Candidate for Place One Justin Allison released this information regarding his campaign.

The election in May is of significant importance to our community and will determine the next step toward realizing the economic development dreams of the people of Stephenville.

During the past year, the city council has worked tirelessly to promote economic development, keep property taxes low, and improve aging infrastructure.  However, there is still work to be done, and additional hands are needed to help implement the citizens’ economic growth goals. I am excited to answer that call as a candidate for City Council Place 1, to volunteer my hands in service to the people, and to share a bit with you about our future and my beliefs and background.

The economic development initiatives currently before the city are very promising. Our residents deserve a business-friendly environment that will encourage the retention of existing businesses and attract new prospective employers and the good-paying jobs they will bring.  I believe in these initiatives and will continue to support them once elected.

Additionally, our taxpayers should be allowed to keep more of their own hard-earned money, and for that reason I will work to keep the property tax rate low. From my regular attendance at council meetings and economic development forums, I firmly believe that through careful fiscal stewardship we can successfully reallocate existing financial assets to improve our roads, water lines, and other aspects of infrastructure.

I was raised on a small Erath County farm and have always considered Stephenville my hometown. Tarleton State University is my alma mater, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Management with a minor in Marketing, followed by my Master of Science degree in Management and Leadership. Since graduation, I have worked for a local manufacturing company and have continued to progress in my career there. I enjoy giving of my time for the betterment of our town, most recently by working as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner. Moreover, I am a conservative with strong Christian values, a Stephenville homeowner and taxpayer, and am committed to serving the citizens.

As we collectively shape a brighter future for our community, I am mindful that Stephenville is not defined by our events and attractions, but rather by the many people who have dedicated themselves to serving this fine community. My commitment to public service on the city council is unwavering, I would appreciate your support, and I ask for your vote.

Thank you,

Justin Allison

Which existing financial assets would be reallocated for improvement? City employees salaries, raises, health insurances, departmental budgets?
