STEPHENVILLE (April 29, 2015) – Euphemia Edem was named Lone Star Conference Athlete of the week for the fifth-straight week Wednesday after her performance at the Rice Invitational Saturday.
The All-American jumper continued to leave her mark in the Tarleton record books, this time in the triple jump.
Edem would finish the day with a best jump of 12.88m (42′-3.25″) to break the 11-year-old record of 41′ 10.75″ set by dual-sport athlete (volleyball, track and field) Lacey Adkisson back in 2004.
Edem’s jump is currently ranked No. 3 in Division II. The senior from Calabar, Nigeria now holds both indoor and outdoor records for both long jump and triple jump.
This extends the record streak from last week; marking the first time under Tarleton head coach Pat Ponder that an athlete has earned Lone Star Conference field athlete of the week honors in five consecutive weeks.
Tarleton will take a two-week break from action before heading to San Angelo for the Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field championships May 7-9.
