STEPHENVILLE (May 19, 2015) — Sources familiar with the hiring process confirm that current assistant coach Bill Brooks will be presented to school trustees Monday evening as the lone finalist to become head coach of boys basketball at Stephenville.

Brooks has been junior varsity coach and a varsity assistant at Stephenville the last two seasons, and if approved by trustees in their regular monthly meeting, will replace his former boss, Jonathan Normand.

The board meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Bond Auditorium.

Brooks came to Stephenville from Burleson. He earned his college degree at Texas State after growing up in Sweeney. His wife, Emily Brooks, is a local attorney.

Brooks has served as a head coach for one game at Stephenville, leading the Yellow Jackets past Lampasas in a 2013-14 bi-district playoff contest while Normand was away for the birth of his adopted twin sons.

Normand led the Yellow Jackets on their deepest playoff run in program history in 2013-14, reaching the regional finals. He resigned following a return to the playoffs last season, citing acceptance into a doctoral program at Tarleton and his plan to become a college professor.
