STEPHENVILLE (May 21, 2015) — It’s been 30 years since the Everett family tragically lost their son and brother, Eric. And each year that’s passed, they have honored his memory with an award presented to a Stephenville High School baseball player.
Not just any player. One like Eric – a dedicated student and teammate who shows hustle, determination and leadership on the field and is a first-class representative of both school and community off the field.

A player like Dominic Ward.
Ward, who graduates in May and plans to study computer engineering at Texas Tech, was presented the 30th annual Eric Everett Award Thursday morning. Charlene Everett and LeAnn Everett Durfey, the mother and sister of Eric Everett, made the presentation, along with fifth-year Stephenville baseball coach James Boxley.
Nicknamed “Ohio” because he hails from the Buckeye State, Ward played outfield for the Yellow Jackets and also proved crucial as a base runner. He helped Stephenville reach the area round of the 4A state playoffs.
