STEPHENVILLE (May 22, 2015) — Mansfield Summit hoops star Nia Jackson is coming to Stephenville to compete for the Tarleton State TexAnns.
The standout guard averaged 12.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 stead as a senior at Summit, according to a Thursday release from Tarleton Athletic Communications Director Nathan Bural. Jackson earned first team all-district honors and was an all-tournament selection at the McDonald’s Invitational.
The TexAnns were 17-10 in their first year under head coach Misty Wilson, a long time assistant coach who was also a standout player at Tarleton. Jackson is the fourth member of Wilson’s 2015 recruiting class, along with other prep signees in Catherine Okwilagwe, Shelby Mankins and Karah Sicurella.
“I am thrilled to have Nia become part of the TexAnn program,” said Wilson, according to the Tarleton release. “She is extremely quick with the ball and a great defender. She will give us speed and quickness at the point guard spot, which allows us to run the floor more often.”
Jackson scored 801 points, dealt 280 assists and swiped 218 steals as a four-year letterman, helping Summit to a 4A state championship as a freshman in 2011-12 as well as a 12-3 state playoff record during her high school career.
