ERATH COUNTY (June 13, 2015) — Another local organization is celebrating a milestone this summer – 30 years of open doors and open hearts.
HOPE, Inc., a long-time Stephenville community aid organization, has been in business thirty years this summer and Jill Scott, Executive Director of HOPE, said in that time, the organization has helped more families than she could count in Erath County. In addition to providing clothing and household items, HOPE also helps families in the form of medical and dental services, as well as help with rent, utilities and more.
In the 30 years they’ve been open in Erath County, HOPE has gathered and given more than five million pounds of food (estimated value – more than $8 million) to the hungry of our communities. Not only that, HOPE has provided more than $600,000 to residents who were in need of assistance in paying rent, utilities and other necessary bill costs.
And then there is the clothing and household items. Scott and others with the organization said Erath County residents are a ‘huge help when it comes to donations of both clothing and household items.’ More than $5 million in clothing and household items have been given to those in need in Erath County.
That means HOPE, Inc., with the help of Erath County residents, have given those in need in our communities more than $17.1 million in aid. All of this has kept these families in their homes, in clothes than kept them warm and fit and, most importantly, feed and healthy.
Now, HOPE, Inc. officials are celebrating 30 years of service and open doors, open hearts in Erath County with an open house from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, at HOPE, Inc. headquarters (located at 1617 E. Washington Street in Stephenville), and they’re inviting the community to join in the fun. So make plans to come out and enjoy some light refreshments and thank those who’ve tirelessly given to those who’ve needed the most in our community.
