(July 23, 2015) — The Dublin Astros woke up this morning one win from a state championship appearance.

The Astros wiped out an early 3-2 deficit by scoring the final six runs in an 8-3 win over a team from Ballinger Wednesday afternoon at the Texas Teenage Baseball 15U State Championship. They face off with Brownwood at 9 a.m. this morning to determine which team will have the advantage in the championship showdown.

Because Dublin and Brownwood are unbeaten, the loser still has life in the double-elimination tournament, but would have to win an elimination game to reach the championship, then defat the winner of its Dublin/Brownwood showdown twice in the final. The Dublin-Brownwood winner will have two chances to win once in the championship.

The Stephenville Mongooses were 2-2 in the tournament and were eliminated Wednesday evening when a 5-4 fifth inning lead slipped away in a 7-5 loss to the Ennis Cubs.

The Stephenville Mets were eliminated in two games after going 12-0 in city league play through Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department.
