Calling it a “phenomenal grass roots effort,” Stephenville Mayor Kenny Weldon and the Stephenville city council presented certificates of appreciation Tuesday evening to those people responsible for coordinating this year’s July 4th Celebration efforts.
“These folks came forward and said we want to bring back something that is really special in Stephenville and that’s the 4th of July celebration that provides something special for people to do as a community, “ Weldon said. “And it was a phenomenal success in its first year to revive it. It was really an important aspect to our community.”
Weldon then called up Shelley Gilliland, Amber Parks, Jody Caudle, Danny Kennedy, Mindy Henson, and John Wooley to present their certificates in front of the capacity crowd.
“Thanks for your leadership in coordinating the activities for the 4th of July Celebration,” Weldon read. “We further acknowledge your sacrifice in restoring this treasured family-oriented day of activities focused on the both of the United States of America.
