JACKSBORO (November 2, 2019) — Stephenville (25-19) took care of business and sailed through the opening round of the Region I-4A volleyball playoffs Monday, winning 25-5, 25-5, 25-7 over Wichita Falls Hirschi (2-37).
The battle was a mismatch from the start, with Hirschi unable to return many of Stephenville’s serves, let alone overwhelming kill shots from the vaunted front line that led Stephenville to the district championship in 6-4A.

Hirschi, the fourth-place finisher in 5-4A – which has only four teams – didn’t resemble a playoff-ready club and only pushed Stephenville by scoring the first three points of the third set, when the intensity meter had already been dialed way back.
Stephenville advances to face Godley or Fort Worth Castleberry in the area round. Those teams meet Tuesday evening in Azle.
Stephenville aced a whopping 15 serves, six of them by Kaleigh Conger and three by Hailey Martin who each had personal hat tricks, acing three straight serves at different times.
Kourtney Seaton racked up 11 kills. Mikayla Hobbs added nine, mostly in the second set. Kylee Ponder had 12 digs and Taylor Garber 11 assists.
