DUBLIN (November 17, 2015) — Double N Cowboy Church is preparing to host its annual ranch rodeo with the added attraction of a chili cook off.
The rodeo begins at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church arena at 7202 E. State Highway 6 just outside Dublin. The chili judging and tasting starts at noon. Check-in for the chili cook off begins at 7 a.m., and when the chili is ready, patrons can have all they can eat for just $5.
“We’re doing it a little different than we did in the past,” said Double N pastor Jimmy Holleman. “We used to have four qualifying rodeos and then a finals where we awarded saddles. But this year, it’s one event, 15 teams and a $10,000 payout. The spots filled up fast, and I think it will be an exciting event.”
He says the chili cookout is an addition he’s particularly excited about.
“There has been a lot of interest in that throughout the community, so I think we’ll have some great chili, and people can come enjoy it at a fair price,” Holleman said. “It’s just going to be a day of good food, fun and fellowship and some exciting competition.”
