(November 22, 2015) — For the second straight year, Dublin stalwart Conner Moore is the 10-3A Division II District Defensive player of the Year.
Moore and Special Teams Player of the Year Chuy Chacon highlight a slew of all-district awards for the Lions. They finished fourth in 10-3A Division II then won a playoff game for the second straight year, the first time that has happened in school history.
Dublin had four first-team honors on each side of the ball. Offensive linemen Justin Ricks and Juan Pablo Garcia join running back Manny Ramirez and offensive lineman Taylor Stone on the first-team offense roster, while defensive linemen Justin Ricks and Cade Hill are alongside linebackers Spencer Leyendekker and Dalton Zinck on the first-team defense list.

Second-team honors went to Chacon at running back, receivers Bryson Fowler and Trask Brown, offensive lineman Jose Villalobos, utility player Isidro Bahena and kicker Christian Hernandez. On defense, defensive backs Gabe Garcia and Bahena, linebacker Gabe Coronado and defensive linemen Rigo Banda and Jacob Riley are second-team selections.
On the honorable-mention list from Dublin are defensive linemen Vilalobos and Dylan Whaley, defensive backs Manny Ramirez and Kaleb Wright, offensive linemen Ethan Price and Moore and receiver Billy Dale Mercer.
Dublin was 2-3 in district play, with its wins over Bruceville-Eddy and Rogers earning the Lions a playoff spot for the second straight time. They last made the playoffs in consecutive years in 1963 and 1964.
The Lions erased a 15-3 first half deficit, scoring with 2:38 remaining in the game on a 74-yard catch and run by Chacon to upset 9-3A Division II champ Blooming Grove in the opening round of the playoffs. The Lions lost in the area round for the second straight year, falling Friday to Corrigan-Camden, 78-35.
