(November 23, 2015) — Stephenville (1-1) rallied but couldn’t overcome a 14-point halftime deficit in a 47-44 loss to 5A Burleson in a rugged boys basketball game comprised largely of players fresh from the football playoffs for both teams.

Coby Vanden Berge scored all of his 11 points after halftime for Stephenville, showing he plans to continue to be a key part of the rotation even with the return of the likes of Zoey Kendall, who scored his 11 over the final three quarters.

The big second half by Vanden Berge fueled 27 points after intermission by Stephenville. The Jackets trailed 31-17 after hitting just six field goals in the first half.

The Jackets closed the gap to eight at the end of the third, and continued to pull closer in the fourth despite never getting over the hump.

Other scorers for Stephenville were Easton Jones with a pair of 3-pointers and seven points, Josh Nowell five, Darian Brown with three, Rett Dittfurth three, Mason Holsten three and Evan Moody one.

Stephenvilel hosts Springtown at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sub-varsity games begin at 4.
