STEPHENVILLE (November 25, 2015) — Stephenville residents, especially members of the legal community, were saddened Wednesday morning to learn of the overnight passing of local attorney Garry Lewellen.
Lewellen was with his wife, Beth, in Boston after the passing of her father on Monday. He is also survived by a son, State Lewellen, and daughters, Kenna Myers and Lambra Lewellen, as well as grandchildren and other family and many friends.
Garry has practiced law since 1973, largely in Stephenville, where his Graham Street office sits in the afternoon shadows cast by Erath County Courthouse downtown.
In addition to standard criminal, civil, family and other areas of Law, Lewallen has for more than 30 years been appointed by Tarleton State University to advise students and campus personnel regarding legal issues or concerns.
“The legal community of Erath County lost a truly great man last night,” wrote retired Erath County Juvenile Probation Officer Dale Warren on his Facebook page. “In addition to skillfully handling high profile cases, he shepherded countless Tarleton students through the legal system after they made college kid mistakes. He will be greatly missed at so many levels.”

Praying for his wife & family
Sending prayers to his wife and family
Mr. Lewellen was a fine person as well as an astute and compassionate attorney. He will be greatly missed by his family, his community, his friends, his clients. Prayers and condolences to his family.
I will miss his waves in the courthouse as he walked by my office. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted by the impact he had on the community and the legacy he leaves behind.
Prayers for his family
Rest in peace Garry. I am so sad seeing this. Prayers for your family.
A truly special and great man he will be missed.
Never a greater attorney or friend. As my family says; the only person that put me in my place. God please comfort this family. RIP Garry
