Stephenville was led again by senior point guard Bayleigh Chaviers with 22 points, her biggest scoring outburst of the season. Chaviers has scored 45 points in three tournament games.

Smith scored 10 for the Bees Liz Pack had seven, Jordan Carter five, Emily Brandon two, Skyler Chipman two and Ali Thorpe two.

Stephenville used a 10-4 push to lead 25-21 at intermission, and exploded for an 11-1 run to lead 41-33 after the third quarter.

But Stephenville did not hit a field goal over the opening half of the fourth quarter, and Wylie scored seven straight to get within one. The Bees hit a free throw before Wylie finally tied it up to set up the decisive home stretch.

It’s the second straight loss to a Texas 6A opponent and third to a school from the highest classification in its state. The Honeybees were within seven after three quarters before 7A Har-Ber from Springdale, Arkansas pulled away for a 66-41 win in the opening Monday morning. The Honeybees lost to 6A Arlington Lamar, 61-55, Monday afternoon.

Stephenville , which last won against Fort Worth Paschall before its losing streak began at Kennedale on December 18, will play again at 3 p.m. this afternoon.
