STEPHENVILLE (January 28, 2016) – No one was injuried when two trailers in the Village Mobile Home Park of Washington Street in Stephenville caught fire Thursday. However, one family dog lost its life in the blaze.
Stephenville Fire Department was first dispatched to the scene just after 11:30 a.m. to a report of one trailer on fire in the 100 block of Bradley in the park. Upon arrival, first responders advised the fire was fast moving and had already moved to a vehicle and a second trailer.
Stephenville FD requested and received assistance from Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue, who brought a tanker to the scene to aid the fight. Emergency crews had the flames contained within the first 30 minutes on scene and spent another hour mopping up the hot spots.
As of 1:30 p.m. Stephenville Fire Marshals were still investigating the cause of the fire and some Stephenville FD were still on scene aiding in that investigation. American Red Cross representatives were dispatched to the scene to aid the homeowners whose homes were destroyed or damaged in the fire.
