HICO (February 5, 2016) – The city of Hico has seen many changes through the last few years but one thing that hasn’t changed – The Koffee Kup Family Restaurant in the heart of town.

Owner Lynn Allen and family have worked in and around the Hico community for years, not only through their restaurant, but also through civic organizations and other involvement. Now, the Koffee Kup is a little more quiet as the Hico mainstay has lost its beloved leader.

It is with sad hearts that The Flash received word this morning that Lynn Allen passed away overnight after taking a turn for the worst and being put on life-support earlier in the week. Allen had struggled recently after a long illness and was in the hospital even before this incident. Thursday morning, the Koffee Kup opened late while management informed the staff of Allen’s condition and plans moving forward.

Allen was not the sole owner of the Koffee Kup. Two other longtime Koffee Kup family members, Irene Leach and Pat Johnson, were also partners in the restaurant. While rumors abound about the future of the Koffee Kup, restaurant officials assured The Flash Friday morning that despite being locked early Thursday, business would continue.

Allen leaves behind his wife, Nancy, sons Scott and Patrick and Nancy’s sons Scott and Daniel, and the rest of his extended Koffee Kup family. Services are still being scheduled at this time, but The Flash Today will keep readers posted.

  1. Terribly sad to hear this. He was a good friend and a good man and served Hico and Texas as an educational leader for years.
