STEPHENVILLE (February 16, 2016) – In just his third weekend of playing baseball for the Tarleton Texans, Stacy Heinatz has earned his first career honor from the Lone Star Conference after being named the Hitter of the Week Tuesday.

Heinatz gave the Texans big-at bat after big-at bat to lift Tarleton to a series win at No. 12 St. Mary’s in San Antonio.

He came up with RBI hits to give Tarleton three different leads over games two and three of the doubleheader against the Rattlers. His first hit broke a 1-1 in the fifth inning of the seven-inning first game of the doubleheader as his RBI and the scored run that ensued from it turned out to be the difference in a Tarleton win. In the second game, Heinatz untied a 1-1 game in the second with his first career home run. He struck one more time in the eighth inning with another RBI double to break yet another tie game and put Tarleton on top again.

For the week, Heinatz hit .545 – which was the best on the team among players with over 10 at bats – to go along with a team-leading 1.091 slugging percentage. He hit .429 in three games with runners on base, including .500 with runners in scoring position. He had a team-high OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.629 for the week. He hit three doubles, one home run, racked up 12 total bases, scored two runs, and drove a team-best five RBIs while not striking out in the series.

This is the second consecutive week that Tarleton has garnered a weekly honor from the LSC as Heinatz joins Trevor Renfro, who won the pitching award last week.

Tarleton will make its home debut this weekend as the Texans host No. 38 Emporia State for a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
