FUNERAL SERVICES: 4:00 pm. Sunday, February 21st at First Baptist Church in Dublin.

INTERMENT: Dublin Liveoak Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 6 pm. Saturday, February 20th in Harrell Memorial Chapel.

MEMORIALS TO: Dublin Historical Society, First Baptist Church or a Charity of Your Choice.

Richard “Dick” Yantis passed away Feb. 19, 2016 at Golden Age Manor Healthcare in Dublin, Tx.

Dick, son of Roy and Ruth Yantis, was born April 16, 1934 in Blanket, Tx. He married Mary Cowan in 1954.

He was a 1951 graduate of Dublin High School. He studied at John Tarleton Agriculture College in Stephenville and the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with honors and receiving his U.S. Army commission in 1957. He served his country at Fort Eustis, Va., and then was a captain in the Transportation Corps active reserve until 1964.

His journalism career began at the Amarillo Globe-News, followed by more than 20 years full-time and part-time work for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. In his 31 years at the University of Texas at Arlington, he coordinated university publications, edited graduate and undergraduate catalogs, and served as Director of Printing and Publications.

Dick made many friends and touched many lives through his volunteer activities, including the South Davis Dad’s Club, deacon and faithful member of Fielder Road Baptist Church, secretary of the Noon Arlington Kiwanis Club and treasurer of his Gideons Camp.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, James Yantis, and his in-laws, Sam and Ina Vaye Cowan.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, three children and their spouses, Mike and Melissa Yantis, Susan and Tom Martin, Dan and Tami Yantis; grandson and spouse, Jon and Kandace O’Toole, and grandchildren Catherine, Elizabeth and Eric Yantis; great-grandchildren Harrison and Ainsleigh O’Toole; his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Marvin Salyer.

If desired, memorials may be given to the Dublin Historical Society, First Baptist Church of Dublin or church or charity of donor’s choice.
