STEPHENVILLE (March 21, 2016) — The Tarleton State University Foundation Inc. is providing $20,000 in grants to students affected by the recent tornado.

“We’re pleased to provide funds for Tarleton students who unfortunately suffered hardship and loss caused by a March tornado and damaging storms,” said Chip Davis, foundation president.

More than 60 Tarleton students were affected by storms on Tuesday, March 8. Student Life personnel are following up individually with these students to assist with school and living related needs. Grants provided by the Tarleton Foundation are a primary funding source.

“We are very thankful to the Tarleton Foundation for its quick response to support students in need,” said Dr. Laura Boren, vice president for Student Life. “Several students have shared that they were left with only one set of clothes and few if any personal belongings. Their books are a total loss. These funds will allow us to aid students affected by the storms.”

Any remaining funds will continue in the student emergency fund to aid students in future disasters. Additional donations to the fund can be made through the Office of Development.
