Mary Oma Mathis, 78, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 24, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born January 21, 1938, in Gorman, Texas to Gerald Hanson and Oma Maurice Land Hanson. Mary married Ray Seth Mathis December 5, 1952 in Brady, Texas.
Mary was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family. She lived in the De Leon area most all of her life other than twelve years when she lived in Sonora, Texas. She enjoyed working word puzzles, shopping, sewing and caring for her family. Mary loved her family dearly and had a loving heart for all children. She was a devoted Christian and her love for the Lord never waivered. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ray Seth Mathis; sons, David Ray Mathis and wife, Elvia, and Terry Montgomery Mathis and wife, Jamie; daughters, Janet Lee Mathis and Jennifer Marie Cooper and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Amy Marie Mathis Reyna, Matthew Iley, Kenny Cooper, Sara Rae Locke, Jade Lagoski, Colton Ray Mathis and Walker Seth Dailey; great-grandchildren, Mattson Ray Locke, Sophie Reagan Locke, Weston David Locke, Maci Ellen Reyna, Kaden Gray, Charlie Marie Cooper, Kelton Tate Iley, and Easton James Iley; and other extended family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Oma Maurice Land Hanson.
A private family graveside service is scheduled.
