STEPHENVILLE (March 31, 2016) — Ever wonder what’s with all the craze over the exploding sport of disc golf?
Gilbert Intermediate is offering the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the game and with the nine-hole course located at Stephenville, all while benefiting projects for local youth.
The first annual Gilbert Intermediate Disc Golf Tournament is set for 6 p.m. – registration at 5 p.m. – on May 6 at SHS, but the time to register is upon us. By registering on or before Friday, April 8, individuals will pay $10, and teams of four will pay $35. After April 8, costs increase to $20 per individual or $50 per team.
Competitors don’t even have to supply equipment as every player will receive a frisbee disc.
“We think this will be a fun time for everyone and hopefully it will help get the word out about the course at the high school,” said event organizer Amber Ferguson. “The funds will go toward keyboards for the new 1-to-1 technology program that Gilbert will begin next year, and any leftover funds will go toward outside playground equipment at the school.”
To register or obtain more information, call Ferguson at 254.485.3579, or email her at AmberFerguson@centurylink.com. Checks should be made payable to Gilbert PTO.
