ERATH COUNTY (April 22, 2016) – A fatality accident just three miles south of Stephenville last night took the life of one Erath County man, and others involved are still fighting for their lives including an area police officer.

According to Sr. DPS PIO Officer Dub Gilliam, at 12:23 a.m. a 2009 Ford Mustang, driven by Luis Alberto Garcia, 30 of Stephenville, was traveling northbound on US Highway 281. Reports indicate that Garcia’s vehicle crossed the center strip and into the path of a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Unit driven southbound by Dustin Ray Paulson, 40 of Gustine.

Paulson is a deputy with the Erath County Sheriff’s Department and was driving a unit from ECSO on patrol in that area, according to Gilliam.

The vehicles hit head-on, killing Garcia, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Mustang left the roadway and entered the east ditch where it rolled and ejected all three occupants of the vehicle.

In addition to Garcia, Precious Joy Robison, 29, and Tuesday Rene Robison, 21, of Stephenville, were also ejected from the vehicle. They are not believed to have been wearing seatbelts at the time. Both were taken via air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Paulson was wearing his seatbelt at the time and was also flown to JPS in Fort Worth.

Precious Robison is reportedly in critical condition this morning. Tuesday Robison is reported in serious but stable condition. According to officials at the Erath County SO this morning, Paulson is in serious condition at JPS, but is expected to recover. The Flash will provide more information as it becomes available.

Gilliam said it is not currently known if alcohol was a factor in the accident as Trooper BJ Hill is still interviewing witnesses and investigating the accident.
