(September 2, 2016) — Two-time All-American Hailey Roberts averaged more than five kills per set as Tarleton State won its opening two matches of the season Friday, topping St. Mary’s in straight sets and Regis (Colo.) in four.

Roberts had 14 kills and 10 digs in the 25-13, 25-19, 25-15 thumping of St. Mary’s, a member of the Heartland Conference, then made it 41 career double-doubles with 23 kills and 12 digs in the 25-15, 29-27, 21-25, 28-26 win over Regis.

Junior college transfer Jordyn Keamo was the primary setter over returning starter Chandler Gow and racked up 20 assists, nine digs and three aces against St. Mary’s, when Roberts and Gow each aced two serves and Roberts also added four blocks.

Keamo amassed 44 assists – 11 per set – against Regis, and also had 14 digs. Gow had 13 digs and four blocks. Autumn Taylor, a Division I transfer from Lamar, had 13 kills.

Sophomore libero Adrianna Knutson had nine digs against St. Mary’s, then anchored the defense with 20 against Regis.

Tarleton faces South Dakota Mines at 10 a.m. and St. Edward’s at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
