ERATH COUNTY (September 22, 2016) – US Highway 281 has claimed another life.
Just after midnight, emergency crews were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on 281, north of Stephenville. According to Texas DPS senior public information officer Dub Gillum, 35-year-old Dustin Lee Mims of Dublin was killed when the vehicle he was driving overturned.
“Just before the accident, the vehicle was reported driving erratically and swerving from the right to left lanes of travel,” Gillum reported.
The report from Texas Highway Patrol Stephenville Office indicated Mims’ 2013 Ford F-350 pickup truck was traveling north on 281 when it swerved off the west side of the roadway and overturned several times. The report stated the driver was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by Erath County JP Shawnee Bass.
Mims’ body was taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
