(November 9, 2016) — Huckabay dominated on the road to begin its girls basketball season with a 51-23 win over Tolar Tuesday.
Presli Bray missed time over the summer after suffering an injury in a spring shootout event in April, but was back to form with 18 points in the win. She was joined in double figures by Kailin Dowell with 16.
“We’re still short handed because of some injuries, but we’re improving every day,” said Huckabay head coach Caleb Walls. “We played hard and looked solid, so it was a good start.”
The Lady Indians will get a tougher test on Friday when they travel to Hico.
“They’re tough, we’ll have to be at the top of our game, but that’s good,” said Walls. “That game can only make us better.”
Adding to the big nights of Bray and Dowell Tuesday were Tiffany Lopez with seven points, Savanna Graves four, Emmy Rodriguez four and Madison Pearson two.
