Norma Lee Sharp, 90, of Dublin, TX, died November 28, 2016, with family by her side in Stephenville, TX.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 1, at 2 p.m. at the Dublin First United Methodist Church where Norma was a long-time, active member. Interment will follow at the Bunyan Cemetery.

She was born September 18, 1926, in the Bunyan community to Hermon and Edna (Shillingburg) Carr. Following graduation from Dublin High School in 1944, Norma married her childhood sweetheart, James D. (Buster) Sharp in Kermit, Texas. Following James’ service in World War II, they made a home and raised a family there for 31 years. Prior to retiring to the Sharp home place near Bunyan in 1988, the Sharps lived in Breckenridge, TX for 15 years.

Norma was a homemaker for most of her life and had the gift of hospitality, which brought her much joy as long as she was able to feed her family and friends well and often. Having grown up in the country, her time on the farm book-ended her life. She loved the country lifestyle, caring for the garden, cattle, donkeys, hummingbirds, cardinals, dogs and llamas that populated their property.

Norma is survived by three children: Donna Starkey of Spring, TX; Frank Sharp and wife, Louise, of Brownwood, TX; Leta Sage and husband, James, of Dublin, TX. In addition she was blessed with six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother-in-law O.W. (Wendell) Sharp, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her like a mom.

She was preceded in death by her husband; baby sister, Sarah Louise Carr; sister, Eddie Ruth (Carr) Sharp; and son-in-law, Charles Starkey.

Memorials can be made to: The Bunyan Cemetery Association (P.O. Box 290, Dublin, TX 76446) or Dublin First United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 247, Dublin, TX 76446).
