Troy Dean Mayfield, Sr., 77, of Whitney, Texas, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016.

Troy was born on February 27, 1939 in Duffau, Texas to Thea and Pearl (Cavitt) Mayfield. He graduated from North Side High School, Fort Worth, in 1958. Soon after graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve where he fulfilled a 6 year enlistment. Following his service, Troy began working in the heating and air industry, where he would eventually open his own business. In 1989, Troy joined the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 529, remaining a member until his death. Troy was also a member of the Whitney Masonic Lodge Post #355 for over 40 years, attaining the degree of Master Mason. In Troy’s spare time, he enjoyed BBQ’ing, gardening, cheering on the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his family and friends; especially his beloved grandchildren.

Troy is survived by his three children, Tina Kincaid and her husband Robert of Blooming Grove, Texas, Troy Mayfield, Jr. of Whitney, Texas, and Angie Mitchell and her husband Jon of Evans, Georgia; six grandchildren – Chase Terry, Morgan Lemons, Kelli Kincaid, Alyssa Mitchell, Kendall Mitchell, and Delaney Mitchell; three great-grandchildren – Jordan Kincaid, Jaden Kincaid, and Graycee Terry; two siblings – Patsy Arthur of Whitney, Texas and Ronald Mayfield of Stephenville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thea and Pearl, and three siblings, Ruby, Cletus, and JC.

Service Information

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, in the Clairette Cemetery.
