STEPHENVILLE (February 28, 2017) — Stephenville avenged a prior loss and toppled a longtime rival Tuesday evening at Lem Brock Field.
The Honeybee soccer club blanked Brownwood 3-0 behind air tight defense and a two-goal brace by freshman Ciara Johnston.
The score was level only for the first 10 minutes as in the 11th Johnston broke through with assist from classmate Hayleigh Beam, and even with more goals to follow, that stood as the winner with the Bees improving to 14-3 overall and 4-2 in 3-4A district play.
Johnston also scored the last goal, this time with an assist from another freshman in Gracie Bales. In between, Madelyn Heupel scored to begin the second half, giving the Bees a two-goal cushion.
Stephenville visits Mineral Wells Tuesday to begin the third and final loop through 3-4A. Kick off is set for 5 p.m. at Ram Stadium.
