(March 1, 2017) — Stephenville rung in the new district softball season on a high note Tuesday evening, blasting Life Waxahachie 20-0 to begin 8-4A play.
Julia Flores was 3-for-5 with three doubles, driving in six runs while also pitching four no-hit innings. Flores struck out nine hitters, then turned the circle over to Skye Gaitan, who struck out two and completed the combined shutout in the fifth.
Sami Shaffer went 4-for-5 with a triple and three runs batted in, and Nadine Arredondo was 3-for-4 with yet another home run, driving in four runs. Jessica Ebeling was 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Madison Gilder had two hits and Jessica Howell, Kristen Pettit, Kenadee Richards and Samantha Luna all had one.
When it was all said and done, Stephenville amassed 19 hits while allowing just one.
The Bees break from district this weekend and are competing in a tournament hosted by 6A Odessa Permian.
