ERATH COUNTY (March 7, 2017) – Huckabay resident and lifelong Hannibal, Erath County, resident Greg Stewart has announced his intention to run for Erath County Commissioner, Precinct 4, against incumbent Scot Jackson.

Currently, Stewart is a bailiff in the 266th District Court in Erath County and most recently served as a board member on the Huckabay ISD School Board. He is married to Julie, his wife for more than 20 years, and they have two boys – Garrett, a 20-year-old kinesiology major at Tarleton State and Jason, a 17-year-old senior at Huckabay High School.

Stewart has served the county in a number of capacities as a law enforcement official since January 1997. He said he’s always enjoyed serving the people of Erath County.

According to his campaign manager, Stewart’s family is “generations deep in Erath and, with his strength and good judgement from his law enforcement career, he has a huge advantage over any opponent… What makes this even more wonderful is Greg’s grandfather, George W. Stewart was Commissioner in the ’30s. Even purchased the county’s first maintainer in 1936!”

Stewart said, in a phone call with The Flash Tuesday, he is excited for the chance to serve the people of Erath County, and the residents of Precinct 4, in this new way.

“I was born and raised here, and I plan on staying here always,” Stewart said. “I’ve always liked to serve and this is just another way to help the folks in the county and I’d like to continue serving them anyway I can.”
