STEPHENVILLE (March 7, 2017) – League night, private parties, on-site dining, a game room, ropes course and more.

Ongoing efforts by the Stephenville Economic Development Authority (SEDA) show big things are on the horizon. The latest announcement by Executive Director John Hubbard and Matt Harpole, SEDA board president, relates to a development at the top of the wish list of many area residents.

Family-friendly entertainment is exactly what Ernie and Geneva Brooks plan to bring to Stephenville, in the form of an 30,000 square-foot facility featuring a multi-lane bowling alley and a whole lot more.

Hubbard said the Dublin couple initially contacted the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce with the idea and was referred to SEDA several months ago.

Since that time, SEDA officials have worked tirelessly to help bring the Brooks’ dream closer to reality by surveying similar businesses across the region. Hubbard also connected the couple with a developer who now has a contract on a highly visible location for the proposed facility and other new businesses.

Hubbard said Don Silverman, with MQ Development Company, actually has two properties – about 14 acres – under contract, the current locations of Rockin’ R Ranch Supply and Green Acres Rental, located at West Washington Street and Wolfe Nursery Road.

Silverman reportedly plans to develop about 100,000 square-feet of retail space, with a little less than a third of the complex being dedicated to bowling and entertainment center.

“I have to give a lot of credit to Matt Harpole, the SEDA board of directors and others who have helped bring this deal together,” Hubbard said. “This has definitely been a group effort.”

Since first signing on with SEDA, Hubbard has heard two major requests from the public – something to entertain the youth of the community and better options when shopping for groceries.

SEDA is working to mark both of those things of the list. The entertainment center news follows the recent announcement that Panda Express also has a contract out on another property on West Washington Street and the announcement that HEB has plans to expand its existing store.
