(March 11, 2017) — Hailey Martin scored 32 points with wins in the triple jump and 100 meter hurdles, a second-place finish in the long jump and contributions to the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays, leading Stephenville to second place with 127 points at the Johnny Perkins Relays in Granbury Thursday.

Martin leaped 35 feet, 5 inches in the triple jump and set a personal record in the long jump at 17 feet, 1.5 inches. In her lone solo running event, the junior raced through the short hurdles in 16.88.

The highest-scoring event for the Bees proved to be the discus throw, with foreign exchange student Vicki Dahl hurling it 112-4, almost four feet past second-place teammate Nadine Arredondo at 108-5.5. With Jordan Self taking fourth at 96 feet, the Bees scored 22 points in the event. Throwers added another 11 points in the shot put, won by Arredondo at 36-8, with Dahl sixth at 30-6.5.

Jordan Carter narrowly missed a spot at state in the high jump last year, and has appeared set on getting there as a junior. She won the event by clearing 5-6, the height it will likely take to get to Austin at season’s end.

The Bees were fourth in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays and sixth in the 4×400. Kristen Pettit, Bailey McBee, Martin and Kylee Ponder (in order) completed the 4×100 in 50.91, while Amber Walker, McBee, Martin and Kylee finished the 4×200 in 1:50.65. The 4×400 featured Savannah Ivey, Kassidy Nowak, Walker and Payton Wall, and they finished sixth in 4:24.45.

Pettit and Wall teamed up for 10 points in the 300 meter hurdles, Pettit second across the line in 50.32 seconds and Wall taking fifth in 50.76. Anahi Rivas was fourth in the 3,200, Walker fourth in the 400 and Bailey McBee was fourth in the long jump at 16-6, teaming with Martin to provide the Bees 12 points in the event.

The Yellow Jackets were led again by Krece Nowak, who was fourth in the long jump, fifth in the triple jump and fifth in the 100 meter dash while also helping the 4×100 and 4×200 relays to fourth place finishes. Nowak ran the opening leg with the same foursome running each of the relays – Pacen Parker second, Kyle Lindsey third and Rett Dittfurth on the anchor leg. They finished the 4×100 in 44.17 and the 4×200 in 1:35.24.

Middle distance standout Lane Rust was fourth in the 1,600 and fifth in the 800, and Zane Walker took fifth in the discus throw.
