BROWNWOOD – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Brown County set their annual Ag Day program for March 28 at the Brown County Fairgrounds, 4206 U.S. Highway 377 S. in Brownwood.
Scott Anderson, AgriLife Extension agent in Brown County, said the program will open with a 5:30 p.m. meal sponsored by the Brown County Farm Bureau.
“This program is intended to keep area agricultural producers up to date on the newest herbicides for weed control in hay fields and how the latest developments with cattle fever ticks will impact their beef cattle,” Anderson said.
Topics and speakers include:
– Spring weed control in hay fields and pastures, Dr. Larry Redmon, AgriLife Extension forage specialist, College Station.
– Cattle fever tick situation – How will it affect our area, Dr. Bruce Carpenter, AgriLife Extension livestock specialist, Ft. Stockton.
Individual registration is $15 payable at the door. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by March 20 by calling the AgriLife Extension office in Brown County at 325-646-0386 so proper meal preparations can be made. More information is also available by calling Anderson at that number.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered.
