(April 3, 2017) — Stephenville is in second place in both the girls and boys team standings after the first of two rounds in the 8-4A district tournament at Squaw Valley Golf Club in Glen Rose.

Kendall Roberts of Stephenville is in the top medalist position in the boys standings after a round of 75 on Monday, while Honeybee Allie Mainord is tied for girls top medalist following a round of 91. The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets shot a team score of 318, trailing Midlothian Heritage A (304) by 14 strokes and leading Heritage B (326) by eight. Other Jacket scores included a 76 by Bunker Funderburgh, an 81 from Ty7ler Lane and 86 by Jake Henriksen. The 94 by Rosser Orr did not count on the team card.

The Honeybees fired a team score of 384, leaving them 29 strokes behind first-place Heritage (355) and just two strokes ahead of Glen Rose (386). Behind Mainord, Taylor Harpole finished in 98 strokes for the Bees, Morgan Kinsey and Maddi Grimes each shot a score of 100 and Maycee Decker’s 102 didn’t affect the team card.
