STEPHENVILLE – With the tennis season winding down, the NCAA has issued its first regional rankings and the Tarleton TexAnns enter the poll at No. 4 in the South Central region.
Tarleton is 8-8 overall this season with a 7-7 mark against NCAA Division II competition. The TexAnns are also 6-3 against teams within the region.
St. Mary’s leads the regional poll at No. 1 with a Division II record of 9-2 while Midwestern State checks in at No. 2 with an 11-3 mark in Division II. Dallas Baptist, who is set to come to Tarleton in the season finale, is sitting at No. 3 in the initial poll with a 12-3 regional mark.
Metro State is currently on the outside looking in of the debut poll as the Roadrunners are at No. 5 in the region with a Division II mark of 8-5.
Four teams will represent the South Central region in the national playoffs, which includes the tournament champions from the Heartland and Lone Star Conference as well as two at-large teams from within the LSC, Heartland, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Women’s Tennis Championship Selection Show is set for April 25, 2017 at 7 p.m. CST on NCAA.com.
