Erath County (April 17, 2017) – Meals on Wheels of Erath County (MOWEC) is hosting the 6th annual Shoot Down Senior Hunger two-part event on Monday, June 12 and Saturday, June 17.

The event will kick off Monday at the Twist with doors opening at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m. guests will be treated to live music featuring Texas Music artists Wade Bowen, Jason Eady, and Courtney Patton.

An exclusive Meet & Greet with the artists will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. A limited number of VIP Passes are available for $100 each. Reserved tables are available for $500 and seat 8. The evening will also feature dinner from Hard 8 BBQ and a live auction.

The sporting clay fun shoot begins at Rough Creek Lodge on Saturday, June 17. Participants will have their chance at 100 clay targets at a variety of shooting stations. In years past, participants were challenged by rabbit targets and overhead shots. Prizes for top shooters will be awarded.

Participant registration begins at 7:30am with the first flight beginning at 8 am. Registration is $100 per shooter or $500 for a team of 5 and includes 100 clays, a raffle ticket and breakfast. This year shooters are encouraged to make this a family affair by adding a second generation shooter for $50. Duo’s could include Father/Son teams, Mother/Daughter, Grandfather/Granddaughter, etc. Participants under the age of 17 years must be accompanied by an adult. Spectators of all ages are welcome.

This year’s fun shoot event will also feature arts and crafts vendors under the pavilion at Rough Creek.

MOWEC is also offering sponsorship packages at many levels, starting at $150. Each sponsorship level offers special recognition during the event and the higher levels offer a chance to register up to 5 shooters, as well as a variety of extra benefits.

This year’s featured raffle has four guns up for grabs. In adult models, a Mossberg OU shotgun SR II or a .309 Ruger M77 Hawkeye with Luepold 3-9 scope. In youth models, another Mossberg OU shotgun SR II or a .243 Ruger M77 Hawkeye with a Luepold 3-9 scope. Four winning tickets will be drawn with the first winner getting first pick of the four prizes. Each ticket is $25 or three chances for $50. Only 500 tickets are available.

Meals on Wheels has served homebound elderly and disabled Erath County residents for 22 years and has delivered nearly 750,000 meals in that time. In addition to providing home-delivered meals, MOWEC also provides transportation services and liquid nutritional supplements to qualified elderly clients. A pet food assistance program was launched two years ago to help home-bound clients. Most recently, MOWEC began working with a statewide foundation to find and serve homebound veterans, regardless of age.

Proceeds from the fun shoot will help MOWEC continue home-delivered meal services and keep elderly clients off waiting lists.
