Services for Evelyn Jean Davis, 94, homemaker, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Lacy Funeral Home with David Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Lacy Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born in Deleon, Texas on December 9, 1922 to James and Audrey Lookingbill. She married Ernest W. Carr on May 31, 1941. He was in the National Guard and was wounded in World War II, later receiving the Purple Heart. After the war he and Evelyn bought a farm in Erath County and raised their four children. She later married Jack Davis of Brownwood.

She loved working on the farm and later sewed at several different sewing rooms in surrounding towns. She also enjoyed to cook, garden, and fish. She was a good homemaker to her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Moore and husband Bobby of Stephenville, TX and Carolyn Sue Taunton of Stephenville, TX; five grandchildren, Randall Carr, Christy Reese, Stacy Vick, Kelly Moore, and Steven Carr; five great grandchildren, Maranda Reese, Alyssa Reese, Ryan Carr, Brooke Bennett, and Robbi Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sons, Phil Carr and Ralph Carr; one grandson, Waylan Bennett; and one son in law, Gaylan Bennett.
