Muriel Patterson

Ruby Muriel Patterson, known as Muriel, passed away from this life May 29, 2017, at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury, Texas at 94 years of age. She was married to Hershel Patterson for 72 years who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by parents Joe and Zada Hammonds Phillips, sister, Alma Oldham, brother Ralph Phillips, and two sons-in-law, Wayland Wooten and Jimmy Drake. Surviving Muriel are three daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Lee Jones of Azle, Barbara and Jimmy Henley of Saginaw, and Sandra and Barry Polk of Hico. Also surviving are her six grandchildren and their spouses, Paul and Elizabeth Wooten, Angela and Brian Duffy, Pam and Damon Tope, Shane and Kirsten Drake, Bret and Kristy Polk, Lynn and Brad Hart and seventeen great grandchildren. Other survivors include nephew Geary Oldham, and wife Susi of Iredell, and niece Sylvia Sponsler of Broomfield Colorado.
Muriel loved her Lord, her church, her family and her many friends. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and Hico Tiger fan. Better known as Nanny to her grandchildren and their friends, she always enjoyed attending their sporting events and school activities. She was also blessed by the afternoons spent with the ladies of the Clariette Busy Bee Club.
For those desiring to remember her, it is wished that memorials be made to the Hico First United Methodist Church where she was a member over 80 years.
