STEPHENVILLE (June 2,2 017) – Former Tarleton basketball star Chuck Guy has signed with GIE Maile Matrix of the Universal Basketball Association.
The Matrix signed Guy as a foreign reinforcement player for their upcoming participation in the 2017 Mediterranean Cup of Champions as part of Group A in Barcelona, Spain.
Guy most recently starred with The Fort Worth F.I.R.M of the Universal Basketball Association where he averaged 22.5 points, 5 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. Guy was named the league’s Player of the Month in March and was voted into the 2017 UBA All-Star game this past season.
Guy was a two-year starter for the Texans from 2012-14 where he helped lead the Texans to a 48-13 record in his time. Guy and the Texans won the Lone Star Conference regular season title and LSC Tournament championship in 2013-14 with a 28-3 record and advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals.
As a senior, Guy was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year, averaging 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists. Guy was named NABC first-team All-American and D2 Bulletin third-team All-American in 2014 as well as Daktronics and NABC first-team All-Region. Guy was a two-time LSC first-team selection. In just two seasons, Guy is fifth on the school’s all-time assists list with 318, averaging 5.3 assists per game. Guy’s 184 assists in 2014 ranks third on the school’s single-season list, and it’s the most in the NCAA era at Tarleton.
