STEPHENVILLE (June 10, 2017) — There has never been a better time to get involved in Honeybee soccer, whether you are entering high school, getting close, or still have several years until you’re eligible to try and match the 2017 team as state champions.
STATE CHAMPION Honeybee Soccer Camp 2017, the first girls soccer camp put on by Stephenville High School coaches, is set for Monday, July 17 – Thursday, July 20, and Texas Association of Soccer Coaches 4A soccer coach of the year Casey Weil says the phone started ringing instantly after the first round of registration forms were distributed earlier this week.
The camp is open to all first through ninth graders based on grade level in the upcoming 2017-18 school year. The cost is $55 if registered by July 14, and campers may continue register up until the July 19 for $60. Hours for all ages are 8:30 a.m. until noon each day.
Participants will learn fundamentals to some of the fine points of the sport from Weil, along with Texas Girls Coaches Association 4A-6A player of the year Savannah Alford, also the MVP of the state tournament, a TASCO first-team all-state selection and 4-4A district defensive MVP. Also instructing from the 2017 state champion Honeybees is Kalee Wright, who is moving on with Alford to Midwestern State University, past Honeybee great Bayliegh Chaviers, who plays at the University of Miami (Fla.) and coach Amy Schrutka.
