Jenkins lands pro deal in Argentina

STEPHENVILLE (September 13, 2017) -– Former Tarleton basketball star Romond Jenkins has signed a professional contract to play for Obera TC in Argentina.

OTC plays in the La Liga Arentina league which has 28 teams divided into two conferences and four divisions. OTC went 13-23 last season and begins the 2017-18 season on October 15.

Jenkins played two seasons for Tarleton from 2015-17 and left his mark as one of the best defensive players in program history. Jenkins averaged 13.3 points and 11.2 rebounds as a senior. The Midwest City, Oklahoma native was the only player in the Lone Star Conference to average double digit points and rebounds and ranked fifth in the nation with 18 double-doubles. In just two seasons with the Texans, Jenkins is 11th all-time in rebounding with 528 boards, tied for eighth all-time in blocks with 87, and is seventh all-time with 24 career double-doubles.

Jenkins was a D2CCA first-team all-region selection and named a D2 Bulletin honorable mention all-american as a senior. He was also the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the third player in program history to be named to the NABC Reese’s All-Star game, where he led all players with 24 points and 15 rebounds.
