STEPHENVILLE (October 18, 2017) — The Cross Timbers Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) announces the fourth annual FCA Challenge Fundraiser on Oct. 20 to coincide with the District 3-4A Division I football game between the Stephenville Yellow Jackets and the Brownwood Lions to be played in Brownwood at Gordon Wood Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the FCA Challenge Fundraiser is to raise funds for the respective schools’ huddles (meeting groups), to send students to leadership camp and for huddle needs such as Bibles, snacks, drinks, and other necessary items. This fun competition is to create a positive bond between each school and community as athletes compete on the field and spectators donate in the stands.
The FCA Challenge was held at Stephenville’s Memorial Stadium last year and saw the Brownwood Area FCA raise $1192 and win the challenge, while the Cross Timbers FCA (Stephenville) raised $400.
The Stephenville funds helped support sending seven students from Stephenville to FCA Leadership Camp this past summer. Stephenville High School and Henderson Junior High will have containers for donations in the office Thursday Friday and designated local FCA students under adult supervision will take donations at the gate, concession stand and in the bleachers on the Stephenville side during the first half of the game Friday.
Proceeds are to be counted each quarter and PA announcements will update amounts raised at the end of the first quarter, middle of the second quarter and at the conclusion to see which community wins the fundraising challenge and the FCA Challenge Plaque provided by Bruner Auto Group and Bruner Motors. The plaque will be presented by the Bruner Auto Family at the game.
The side challenge between Brownwood Area Director Tony Daniel, and Cross Timbers Area Director Carrie Normand also continues this year with the director form the losing side having to wear attire identifiable with the other school from Monday to Friday of next week.
