(October 24, 2017) — Dublin broke out of the recent funk that cost the Lady Lions a chance at second place in District 6-3A Tuesday, winning exactly the match they would have needed to earn the No. 2 seed entering the playoffs if not for twice stumbling against teams finishing further back.

The Lady Lions took care of he bad taste of defeat that lingered in their mouths following setbacks to Eastland and Early by concluding their regular sedans with a four-set, 25-19, 25-17, 17-25, 2521 road win over second-place Breckenridge.

“The girls did a great job. Our defense was outstanding and our offense moved the ball around and was aggressive,” said sixth-year Dublin head coach Ryan Lewis. “This was a huge win giving us momentum going into the playoffs.”

Dublin finished third in the district and Eastland fourth. Comanche won its second straight District 6-3A championship with Breckenridge two games back in second. Dublin gets District 5-3A runner-up Clyde in a Region I-3A bi-district playoff at 7 p.m. next Monday, October 30, at Brownwood High School.
