Western State opened the game on a 5-2 run, which would quickly go by the wayside as Kylie Collins tied the game with her first three-pointer of the season before Hailey drained her first long ball to give Tarleton the last lead change of the night. The back-to-back triples started a 21-7 Tarleton run over the rest of the first quarter to give Tarleton a 23-12 lead.
The Mountaineers cut the Tarleton lead to as few as five over the second quarter and beginning of the third, but a jumper from Tiara Tatum started an 8-2 Tarleton run to push the TexAnn lead back to double digits. Tarleton would go on to push the lead to as many as 23 in the fourth quarter.
Behind the double-digit performances from Hailey, Bostad, and Webster, Tarleton got nine from Collins and eight from Trejouir Wilson. Shelby Mankins, Baylee Peck, and Tatum each scored four while Lucy Benson (3), Shelby Drews (2), and Makaila Tyer (2) rounded out the scoring.
Tarleton won the rebounding game 34-33 with Benson leading the way with seven in her collegiate debut. Hailey and Bostad each had three assists to lead the team.
The TexAnns will return to action in the final game of the F&M Bank TexAnn Tip-Off Classic tomorrow at 5 p.m. against St. Mary’s in Wisdom Gym.
